This place is stunning. Travel by car is good as scenary along the road is beautiful. The traditional houses here is well maintained. Suitable to come here for any seasons. No regret to travel 1.5hr from Kyoto by car
One of the most beautiful and calming places I've ever had the opportunity of seeing. It's worth the long drive. Take your time and visit the Little Indigo Museum run by Hiroyuki Shindo, where you get a history on indigo from Egypt thousands of years ago to the dyes being prepared right in the studio on the first floor of the museum. Also, they accept square!
It's a beautiful place but not easily accessed by public transport. Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favour and was very wet and dreary. If it weren't for the rain, I imagine we would have enjoyed ourselves more. There's actually a small hotel or inn of sorts, I believe, a few restaurants and cafes and shrines. Worth checking out if you love quiet country life.
I loves the environment here, the surrounding very owesome! With cold air blowing towards youðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Such a lovely place
Good ice cream
Nice plae but So hot
Must visit. Great place to see old villages. It"s like a video game village.
Beautiful little old village with traditional thatched roof houses surrounded by rice fields, forest and a river. Very well worth a visit if you want to get to know the Japanese countryside. Please be considerate though as people still live and work here.
Kayabuki no Sato is like a japanese rural setting in the movies.
Fantastic view of Fujisan from a thatched village. You can find a lot of handcrafted products there.
Miyama is one of my favorite place that I visited Japan this time. It is located in the remote and rural area of Kyoto where it is not convenient to reach, but I had a good time there. This small town is famous for its thatched roof and traditional Japanese lifestyle which makes me reminisce my childhood that I went to farm with my grandfather and played beside the rice field with my brother and cousins. I haven't had a chance to stay overnight here due to my sudden decision to visit this place. However, I think it must be worthy of having this kind of experience.
Nice small town. People are friendly and truly. The landscapes are incredibly.
Beautiful small village in a valley. Worth coming and enjoy the peaceful nature and simple life.
That's a very beautiful small town
Better seeing this when momiji!
It's a long way to get there... Considering that it's hard to reach the site, this place doesn't really worth the time.
Very nice place. I loved.
Beautiful city in winter
Very nice and a quiet place to live in, it's far away from the city. The buildings are unique and one of a kind.
It's very gorgeous place though the traffic isn't so convenient. I love the atmosphere here seeing people offer theirself what they need.
A good place to visit. Traditional Japan.
Beautiful and peaceful place.
Not much tourist, feel authentic Japanese style
Long drive from kyoto but worth every minutes you travel
Traditional small village not too far from Kyoto city - completely different atmosphere though. There aren’t too many to do/see (there are cafes and museums), it’s just nice to walk around. You can enjoy the village, its fresh air and the beautiful scenery with mountains. As we visited there in winter, we could see the village covered by snow - it was very pretty.Although we went there by car, there were a few tourist buses (mainly foreign tourists) as well. Free parking available. There seems to be nice lodge for group of people to stay for a night or two - can’t remember the name of the place.
Beautiful village full of history and heritage (and water guns)!
Beautiful scenery!
Small village with limited timeable bus
2 hours journey from Kyoto station. A small village with nice scenery. We spent 2-3 hours to enjoyed the view and foods. Worth it for the journey.
Secluded from busy downtown Osaka, the houses here sure look amazing. It takes about only 20-30 minutes to go through the whole village but it sure is a nice place to experience old Japanese town.
It's a sweet little town with special architecture. It is from far the city but once you've arrived, you may enjoy quiet and peaceful moment here. There's also a nice coffee shop that served the soft served ice cream that's made by using the local milk. Must try.
I recommend you to visit this place one time at least even if the transportation is a little bit difficult, but you feel relax with the beautiful view around. I went there one time, but I am thinking to go there again. There are many shops in this area. It is not easy to access there.
I love this place. It went there in sunny day but snow!! Everything covered by white snow, background was blue sky and mountain, the sun made me warm. There are some shrines, one cafe, and few restaurants. Nice place for photography and playing snow.
There are not many people there when we visited this town. Parking is free. Toilet is also available at the car park or next to a shop. There also also cafes in this town but I would not recommend for coffee. Cafe also sells souvenirs. I bought a magnet portraits the special structure of the buildings. This place has turned to a scenic spot for tourists. The location is a bit regional. So if you are driving and have time, you can take a detour to visit this town.
Cute village with houses with thatched roofs. It's a little difficult to get here via public transport so visited via a local tour.
Quaint little town with traditional Japanese houses. It resembles Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture. There isn't much to do out here, so if you've been to Shirakawa-go, you don't need to come here.
This place remaining very peaceful as not much tourist from other countries will able to make their way here... In Japan there is 3 places similar like this and one of it which is quite famous nowadays which many people like to go... Shirakawa or in chinese you name it 白å·é„‰. To me, this place is much more than expected compare to the other one.
Booked on Klook and it was a breeze. It was snowing when we got there, the traditional hamlet into a picturesque winter wonderland, in February. A nice experience.
Lovely place. Really enjoy this view here. Public transportation is not easy to get here, suggest to go with mini tour.
Very fun old historic village!
Not the best place of Japan but definitely the best place for a visit and experience !!!The very local food and the accommodation with family service was once-in-a-lifetime and can hard to forget. If there is a second chance to come I will definitely come for a visit again, even the transportation takes lots of time but this is what makes this place isolated and unique and stay in the original way provides the original culture they have.Highly recommend it is here can be a place for you to try to take your time and wonder around relaxing and chilling here.Shouldn’t be missed out and Worth a try.
Just small lovely village that 1 hr walking around is enough, there is a cute cafe inside.
Miyama Kayanuki-no-Sato is an amazingly beautiful village with authentic traditional Japanese farmhouses. These farmhouses are well known for their clusters, constructed in the architectural style known as gasshÅ-zukuri (åˆæŽŒé€ ã‚Š), which are designed to easily shed snow from their roofs. However, it’s not easy to get there by public transportation from city and we were there by your bus.
Nice place to visit, far from kyoto town but really worth it
Waiting for you to come, nostalgic homeHow I long for their old thingsDreaming about those day
If you’re hoping for a relaxing walk admiring beautiful traditional architecture, this is the place!
