This place is stunning. Travel by car is good as scenary along the road is beautiful. The traditional houses here is well maintained. Suitable to come here for any seasons. No regret to travel 1.5hr from Kyoto by car

It's a beautiful place but not easily accessed by public transport. Unfortunately, the weather was not in our favour and was very wet and dreary. If it weren't for the rain, I imagine we would have enjoyed ourselves more. There's actually a small hotel or inn of sorts, I believe, a few restaurants and cafes and shrines. Worth checking out if you love quiet country life.

One of the most beautiful and calming places I've ever had the opportunity of seeing. It's worth the long drive. Take your time and visit the Little Indigo Museum run by Hiroyuki Shindo, where you get a history on indigo from Egypt thousands of years ago to the dyes being prepared right in the studio on the first floor of the museum. Also, they accept square!
